| Musgrave, No. 9 Team ASE Toyota Finish 7th at New Hampshire International Speedway | ||
| Loudon, NH (September 18,
2007) Ted Musgrave recovered from trouble on his first pit stop to
come home seventh in the New Hampshire 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck
Series race at New Hampshire International Speedway. On a track that
is notoriously difficult to pass, Musgrave restarted the No. 9 Team
ASE Toyota deep in the field and wheeled his way through the pack to
collect his 12th top-ten finish of the 2007 season. “I don’t know what happened on that pit stop,” Musgrave said. “I guess they couldn’t get the jack under the left side. The Team ASE Toyota was fast and we were doing well until we had that pit stop. We lost about 13 spots in the pits. New Hampshire is really hard to pass but we were able to work our way back up and put on a good show for the fans. We just need to get a little luck and click on everything like we did last race at Gateway. I thought like we had a top five truck, we just need to get out there and utilize it.” While it looked like Musgrave was able to easily work his way back up through the field, he worked hard to come back from 23rd on the restart at lap 50 to seventh at the finish. While the fenders were still on and the doors weren’t knocked in, Musgrave’s truck definitely showed battle scars from a hard-fought charge through the field. “It may have looked easy but it wasn’t,” Musgrave said. “It is really, really tough to pass here. The truck was set up for the bottom, and we used our head and tried to keep the truck out of trouble. Sometimes you might just not be able to get someone and he’d give you a little break. We didn’t want to over extend ourselves and get into trouble. We saw Kyle Busch do that and he ended up crashed and in the wall. The truck was good; we just need to be able to capitalize on it.” With New Hampshire now in the rear view mirror, Musgrave now has a chance to look ahead to Las Vegas Motor Speedway. In the Las Vegas race in 2006, Musgrave finished just one-third of a second behind winner Mike Skinner to come home in the runner-up spot. He would like to improve on that result by one position this time around. “I can’t wait to get out to Vegas,” Musgrave said. “I love that racetrack, and there’s nothing we’d like more than to get a win out there.” Musgrave is currently seventh in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship standings, 534 points behind leader Ron Hornaday and 223 points out of the top five with a 51 point lead over 8th place. Next up for Musgrave and the No. 9 Team ASE Toyota is the Las Vegas 350 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. SPEED will have live coverage of the 18th round of the 2007 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season starting at 8:30 P.M. Eastern on Saturday September 22. The race will also be broadcast nationwide on select MRN Radio affiliates, while TruckSeries.com will have complete event coverage online at www.truckseries.com. ________________________________________________________________ What is Team ASE? In the early days of racing, the driver
was often recognized as the main reason for a team’s success.
Recently, the crew chief and crew have been acknowledged as equally
important in creating a winning situation for every race team. A
parallel exists between racing and the automotive service industry.
Similar to the way a crew chief and crew must deliver a satisfactory
product to the driver in order to win the race, an employer and the
technicians in a service and repair shop must satisfy the needs of
their customer in order to create return business. But what makes
TEAM ASE most unique is the level of commitment from our certified
technicians involved in the program – both on and off the track.
Being competitive on the race track is important to TEAM ASE because
ASE is itself a standard of excellence. However, TEAM ASE’s success
in motorsports is not solely measured by pole position, top-five
finishes or by slapping hundreds of decals on racecars. There is
much more to the TEAM ASE program.
