Solid Second Place Finish in Martinsville Martinsville, VA (April 3, 2006) Ted Musgrave drove the Germain Racing No. 9 Team ASE Toyota to a strong second-place finish in Saturday's Kroger 250 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series at Martinsville Speedway. Musgrave, who started 10th, used savvy pit strategy to gain track position and stay ahead of all the incidents that caused a record-breaking 16 caution flags on the day. The second place finish gives Musgrave four top-five finishes to start off the 2006 season. "I bet a lot of people didn't think that would happen, including me," Musgrave joked afterwards. "The stuff that the Germains give us and the communication between Tom Ackerman and me, and everybody - we converse back and forth with out teammate Todd Bodine a lot. This deal is a lot different than a lot of people think. Todd runs a practice and we run a practice and we sit down together and talk about. The amount of information that goes back and forth is amazing." Musgrave was running down the laps late in the race, knowing he was not in a position to catch the leader but comfortably ahead of the battle for third. "I knew we weren't going to catch the 11, and we were far enough ahead of the race for third that we were just running out the laps at the end," Musgrave said. "Thankfully we pitted early on got our track position, and we were far enough of all the trouble to not have to worry about all that." Musgrave did make a run at eventual winner David Starr on one late-race restart, giving the leader a shot in the rear going into turn one. "I used a different shift pattern on that restart and it looked like David spun the tires a little bit," Musgrave said. "I had a great run on him going into turn one and he closed the door on me and we got together. I laid back and let him get straightened out, but that was my only real chance to get him, was hoping he made a mistake on a restart or something." Musgrave takes over second position in NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series points heading into the next series event at Gateway International Raceway on April 29.
