International Raceway:
“Phoenix is a fun place to race. Unfortunately our team has been
in position to win there the last three years and then we were bit by things
out of our control bite us late in the race. Three years ago we cut a tire
down while running third and catching the leaders. Two years ago we were
third again and right behind the leaders and we lost a cylinder. Then last
year we came in on the last pit stop in third, our jack broke during the
stop, and we restarted 16th. I was able to drive it back to third place but
unfortunately that was our best finish so far.
“The track is great. It provides for two groove racing, has two different
short-track corners but is flat in places and has some high speed
straight-aways.”
Dennis Setzer on his finish at Martinsville
Speedway (10/23):
“Martinsville has always been good to me whether it was in a late model,
a Busch car or a NASCAR Craftsman Truck and has always been a fun place to
come to. Congratulations to Jamie McMurray and those guys on the No. 2 team,
they had a great truck all day. My teammate Bobby Labonte ran really good
today. These Silverados just keep going forward. Danny Gill (crew chief) and
all the guys on the crew made some great calls in the pits for us today.
They made some good adjustments on it and we were able to drive our way back
to the front. There was a lot of beating and banging there behind me but we
were able to stay out of it and keep our Chevrolet Silverado in one piece.”
The Truck- “Pip”
“Pip” debuted at Michigan and looked to be headed to a 3rd place finish
before finishing 10th. Pip ran again at Nashville qualifying 4th and
finishing 19th. Pip scored his first top-ten finish in
Vegas and sat on the outside front row for the team’s best earned qualifying
effort of the season.
