Dover, DE – Driver, Dennis Setzer, and Morgan-Dollar Motorsports were scratching their heads like many others after the MBNA America 200 at Dover International Speedway on Friday. A late-race caution took many of the early contenders out of the running and left the door open for many non-competitive teams.

After starting in 15th position, the team’s worst start this season, Setzer and his Team Silverado crew hoped to get their first top-five finish at the “Monster Mile”. However, Dennis complained that his #46 Chevy Silverado race truck was a little “skatey” and had no side grip in the early laps. At lap 49, and under caution, the team decided to pit and make some adjustments. Setzer would restart in 9th position.

By lap 82 the truck had developed a loose condition, but Dennis maintained his ninth-place position. As the race ran on under green flag conditions the crew and crew chief Danny Gill debated on what to do on the next stop and when to make that stop.

Based on fuel calculations, the crew decided to pit at lap 143. However during the stop an official noticed that one of the lugs was missing off the right rear and the team lost valuable time in putting it on before Setzer returned to the track.

Dennis made it back on the track but had lost a lap to the leaders. Even more unfortunate was the caution flag that fell at lap 151. The crew felt they could have stayed out that long, but had decided to play it safe and pit early. The caution put Setzer’s #46 Silverado down two laps and he would restart in 18th position with less than 50 laps to go.

The team was unable to make up any of the lost ground and would come home with a disappointing 18th place finish. Setzer was able to maintain a slim 20 point cushion in the overall NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series standings heading into this Friday night’s O’Reilly 400K at Texas Motor Speedway. The race can be seen live on the Speed Channel at 7:30 pm CST.
