MILWAUKEE, MI- (June 26, 2004) -Jimmy Spencer's Team ASE/CARQUEST Dodge showed some promise during the middle stages of the Black Cat 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at the Milwaukee Mile on Friday night. Spencer climbed into the top ten by the halfway mark and seemed poised to claim a solid finish. Unfortunately for the Berwick, PA native, his truck was more than just a tick tight in the closing stages of the event and Spencer was relegated to a 16th place finish.

"We were just too tight," Spencer claimed. "The Team ASE/CARQUEST Dodge was pretty neutral in qualifying and we thought that the track would tighten up when the race started. It just tightened up more than we though it would."

Spencer qualified his Ultra Motorsports entry in the 23rd position. He was patiently making his way up the standings during a long green flag run at the start of the race. When caution befell the speedway on lap 60, Spencer brought his Team ASE/CARQUEST Dodge down pit road for service. His pit crew changed four tires and added fuel but was unable to keep Spencer's used right rear tire from skittering out of the team's pit box. That placed Spencer at the tail end of the longest line on the ensuing restart. The Ultra Motorsports team attempted to make the most of a bad situation by bringing him in to top off his fuel tank during several ensuing caution periods. Spencer made his last stop for fuel when the yellow flag once again fell on lap 127. He restarted the event in the 17th position but was unable to make up significant ground in the closing laps of the event.

Spencer's Ultra Motorsports teammate Ted Musgrave won the race. It was Musgrave's 14th career NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series win, and he became the first repeat NCTS winner at the Milwaukee Mile. The next stop for the truck series is at Kansas Speedway on Saturday July 3rd. The race will be broadcast live on the Speed Channel, MRN Radio and XM Satellite Radio at 3pm ET.
